Offering Outpatient and IOP levels of care
What we Do
Spectrum CBT provides psychological treatments for individuals struggling with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and anxiety disorders including social anxiety disorder, panic disorder and generalized anxiety disorder.
We provide science-based treatment using cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT) and exposure and response prevention (ERP). In addition, Spectrum CBT emphasizes real world accomplishments by integrating school, occupational and independent living skills through treatment and tailored coaching options.
A RANGE OF TREATMENT OPTIONS
We offer a range of treatment options that include one a week outpatient therapy, more frequent "intensives" at 2-3 times a week and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
Exposure therapy is often erroneously described as a way of "facing your fears". People with anxiety face their fears every day, but often in painful and counterproductive ways. We help people learn newer ways to handle anxiety better and to become stronger and more resilient to anxiety.
More eFFective Therapy
Exposure and response prevention (ERP) is a subtype of exposure therapy that is specifically created for OCD. A central concept in learning theory is that avoidance and/or "safety strategies" (i.e. compulsions) strengthen the OCD cycle. ERP is built to teach individuals new ways of coping or relating to their experience that promote healthier responses instead of compulsions. At Spectrum, we heavily integrate mindfulness based concepts into ERP, as newer clinical trials suggest that this maybe beneficial and improve adherence to treatment.
